Shopping

Everyone wants to buy a few things when they go away on a vacation. Japan is known for being a very expensive place to go for a vacation. So you would think why would shopping in Japan be any different? Well it does not have to be!!!

There are the shops in Japan that cater to the tourists and are very expensive but with a little help from the internet or the locals you can find a place to get just what you are wanting at just the right price.

One such place called the Don Quijote or as the locals from Japan call it the Don Ki. is named after Cervantes's famed adventurer and has anything your heart desires. Whether you want clothes, food, alcohol, electronics or household items, Don Quijote has it. This store is similar to a wal-mart and has the prices that will not break your pocket.

Don Quijote may prove to be a lot more interesting than any American chain known as Wal- Mart. Don Quijote is several stories up wards instead of out wards. Don Quijote does differ from our Wal-Mart in one way; it sells things such as souvenirs, Kimono's, designer hand bags and even sex toys.

If you ask any local where to go for anything at a reasonable price they will all unanimously vote for Don Quijote because this is a place that is a part of the Japanese life. This is not your run of the mill tourist style shop but you will still be able to find anything you need.

When shopping for food in Japan, it is always cheaper to buy traditional Japanese food rather then buying imported food. If your stay is a long one, you are better off buying noodles or rice. Ask the locals for they will help you with locating the best place to shop but most will still go for Don Quijote's for that is THE place to be.

Then there are the flea markets in Japan. they are similar to the ones we have in the states. You can find an array of things to spark your interest. Another place to shop is the 100 yen stores. These are similar to the one dollar stores and function on the $1.00 idea and carry about the same things as the dollar stores carry.

The street shopping is another cheap way to shop. These street shops function all the time and sell anything you may need from shoes, clothes, food (cooked or uncooked) and almost anything under the sun. The shops really come to life at night and prices usually get cheaper after the midnight.

So when wanting to shop cheap, just ask around or do a little internet surfing you are sure to find someplace in your price range. Just because Japan is considered an expensive vacation does not mean it has to be so!!
